Dragging wood out of excavator trash pile

“Free wood ready for the saw!” All half buried and tangled up with palms, brush, etc. I’m a glutton for punishment, but I like playing with my army truck and saws…

feels kinda like @afleetcommand sawnanigans. My winch remote wouldn’t work at any distance, so lots of running back and forth. Hopefully just a battery issue.

euc trunk in the middle I’m standing on I chunked the middle out of with the 36” on the 395. Pulled a couple smaller longer ones out from under it. Got one decent ash saw log out of the one on the left.



unburied an ash. Another behind it I couldn’t pull out, didn’t care to dig. Most of them were damaged and half dead/rotten or cracked from the excavator.

Mesquite or Palo verde, smells bad, sour.


The 36” euc chunk. I later regretted setting it on the trailer, it got in the way of winching others on.

Winching eucs onto trailer. Tricky to keep it balanced so that it will still tilt for the next ones.

If you zoom you’ll see the chunk on top and the twofer chained to the back end of the primary log I was dragging.

It was quite a trick to get stinky on top like that.


I cut up a few more with the 2156 and 7900 and hand loaded, wet euc is heavy! Als0, ash cuts like butter compared to euc. Decent sized chips instead of dust like I usually get.

Feels like a few thousand lbs behind the deuce.

Yes but I've had 2 broken vertebrae and a blown disc. I'm held together by six screws, two rods, and a bone graft.
