I like those orange tops. Any of them floating around out there? I thought I remember someone selling new ones on here?
GRRRRRR
They are Fire Red!

:p

I had a thread offering to make a bulk parts purchase for members - next to no one was interested and I had the thread deleted.

I sold a set or two to members here, always kept a spare set in my stash - don't have any now though.
Funny, always when I have no spare someone is asking about them - same deal with the small European spike set!

Technically I can and can not get them - I ordered some and they are all backordered!
Availability is questionable, delivery time lengthy, prices are spiking.
It is getting tedious sourcing Dolmar parts, which is why I am stocking up on small ticket items and wearing parts.

There will hopefully soon be a couple sets in the US, but since I do not know whether those will be for personal use or sale I will not name anyone. ;)

Carbide chain? Boy we know who’s got the money now lol.
I'm broke and can't afford ported saws.

Thus I reached deep into my wallet to get the PD3 & RD3 to save time on sharpening chains - time is money! :D

Ah yes, it was you then. I knew I remember someone with some “orange” tops for sale lol. If you ever stumble across more of them I’d be interested. And yes the oem 64 top ends are easy to acquire as everyone wants to swap them out. Yes stock up on parts who knows what will happen. I love this chassis and most dolmar saws in general but they really turned me off doing away with gasoline the way they did. Time will tell I suppose.

Anyone ever have a problem running an 8T sprocket on their saws? I'm referring to the 7910 I have. I tried putting an 8T 3/8 sprocket on with a 24" tsu d009 bar last night and the drivers on the chain would not naturally feed into the sprocket. They would ride up the shoulder of the sprocket. (new sprocket as well as fairly new chain) I had no issues with the 7T sprocket. Do I need a domar bar that may have a wider tail to run a 8T sprocket?

Edit: alignment seems correct and I did double check that the washer behind the clutch drum was present.

Running 8T on Tsumura Light 28” on that 7910 above no issues.

Check whether the chain is touching the chip flow rubber thingy.
That is the only issue I had running 8 pin.

That's already been chewed up and now provides enough clearance.

Running 8-T on both stock 79’s with 28” Tsumara Lite bars. Run great.

Ok then I know it’ll work, maybe I had the bar on cattywompus, I’ll try it again when it isn’t 11:30 at night.

Sometimes the sprockets have casting flash in them or whatever? from the manufacturing process and straighten out after a few cuts

Although probably rare, I did see a drive rim that was cast off center.
I thought that too. Looked pretty centered. I think what Kevin referred to with casting flash is probably the culprit. Considering it’s new but aftermarket. Got it at my stihl dealer…. Asked for stihl rims and they said they don’t stock anything but aftermarket now because “they’re just as good”. Now I’m skeptical.

Easiest way to check an off center is pull the chain, it will go tight, loose, tight loose.

I just remembered a issue I had with an Archer 7 pin large spline 3/8" sprocket!
The chain wouldn't turn freely as the splines were cast too thick and the drive links wouldn't fully seat.

Take the sprocket and chain off Your saw and free hand lay the chain all around the sprocket.
If the chains tie straps don't sit on top of the sprocket OD then the sprocket is junk/out of specks!
I would not try and run such a sprocket in hopes "it might settle"!!!
They are cast steel and by the time You wear them in by force You WILL damage Your chain and MIGHT cause wear and damage to Your saw/PH.

Can't get to the *s-wordty Archer sprocket as it is in one of my spare parts buckets and those are buried under a pile of other stuff.

makes you wonder why the xxxx they bought it in the first place. remember when they bought it, was supposed to be a good deal for dolmar being saddled up with all the Mikita dealers - although that really never came to pass except you could order parts.

^That's what I mean. Makita as far as I know never sold any gas saws that they designed/developed that's why they bought the dolmar brand as dolmar had some nice gas powered models. The saw may say Makita on it but it's a Dolmar saw. Makita decided to go all in on electric but how about selling the gas designs and rights they got from dolmar. They didnt and that effectively killed off/ended new production dolmar saws. We missed out on a 70cc version of the 6100 by the way. Heard from a reliable source Makita had fully designed a 70cc 6100 but it never went into production and now it never will. Wish someone else could get the rights to produce it and the rest of the lineup.
