Dolmar 421 vs echo 490

Who wants to see a head to head shoot out between these two? What all would you like to be gone over?

Me I already have a 490 been thinking about getting a 421 never ran a dolmar I'd like to see the difference in cutting speed the echo a little slow but light.

I would like to see the build quality and the weight difference between the two.

This would be a great comparo between two high quality, inexpensive saws. The 421 has quite the loyal following.

Over all fit finish of both saws. Weight differences. General overview of features of both saws. Will you be able to play with the tune of the echo at all?

Isn't the Echo a 50cc saw? The Dolmars going to be fighting above its weight class. I'm curious since I own a 421. However, I'd really like to see a 421 VS 241 Stihl.

That's where it will be interesting. I hear the 421 runs like a 50 cc out of the box.

That's what I've heard too. That's why I didn't bring up the cc class difference. If left stock I'm betting these two saws are very close. The echo likes a muff mod and carb retune to really sing.

I never ran mine stock. I muffler modded it and threw a 5105 rim sprocket on it with a .325 chain before it was ever started. It does run good. I'd like to run it against my bone stock 026 Pro.

I run a 16" with PS chain.

I think I'm running CarltonK1L in 16" and it's working well. Always willing to try something new though.

Stock clutch works. And you need a 10x16x.2mm shim.

I believe fordf150 sells the conversion kits.

I'm pretty sure the 421 is twice the saw that the echo is. Of course I've never seen an echo...

You might be surprised by the echo. They make a quality saw. Millermodsaws has a build thread on the 490s close cousin the 500p.
