Hi Guys.
As the title says........... does the 462 respond well to porting?

I truly hate to say this, but I think I ma going to sell my beloved ported 460 and get a lighter saw ported.

Probably going to have a VERY strong 460 for sale.

I've not run a stock one but I've got one ported by Randy. It rips a 28in bar through hardwood faster than the neighbors 500i. https://mastermindsaws.com/ @huskihl and @tree monkey have stellar reputations for turning out nasty saws as well.

These modern saws don't gain like the older ones did, they're coming out the gate hotter and the manufacturers are leaving less and less on the table. That being said, a ported 462 is a great light weight saw in the 70cc class.
I dont know if thats true or not. I suspect the new saws gain about as much as the old ones. Maybe one of the guys that port saws can speak to this?

Thread is a couple years old. I ported it for him a few months after this thread.

Early 462 didn’t gain as much. Pretty hot out of the box. Newer post-‘21 models gain about 25-30% for me
