For the inevitable ? Hopefully it won't be anytime soon. But we never know when tragedy will strike ? So how many have instructions for spouses, family members or others what their saws are worth ? I was thinking about this last night and I for one know my wife wouldn't have a clue what I have in or what any of my saws are worth. So I'm thinking about tags that twist on handles with models and prices when not in use ? Maybe a file in computer they can and know about them with pictures ? Even if you don't want them to know what you have into them ? Lol
I know many have a lot more in their saws then I. So what's your plan ?
I'd like to hear others ideas. I hate to think of wives or others selling high dollar saws like cheap Craftsman saws in a garage sale.
Maybe where to sign up at OPE to post for sale ? Thanks for reading and ideas posted in advanced.

I'm thinking especially for the guys that have multiple ported and NIB saws that may not reach potential on action sites ?
You know freaks that aren't on chainsaw forums and have no idea who these porters are.

My wife keeps on me to get her a list of what my guns are worth. I'm 100% sure they'd never be sold though as I have 4 kids and my wife's a hunter, too.

My saws - no way could she sell them as my boys are attached to them.

Well that sounds like a plan. Maybe who gets what guns and saws

I keep a list of guns and high value items and roughly what I paid for them in a safe that only my trusted brother knows the combo to. I also keep a copy of it with a lifelong friend that I consider family and she would be the only one that would say what's stays and go and for fair deal if something were to happen

When my father passed I had to deal with it all on my own and I believe he wanted it that way and knew that I wouldn't just sell it all and piss the cash away. I had worked hard with him to obtain what we had to work with so there's no price tag on that.

I was just thinking about this. I have a nice woodshop that my brother would handle but he doesn't know anything about chainsaws. My wife can't tell the difference between an 026 and 088.

It is in everybody's best interest to legally setup an estate and choose it's executor long before you think it will be an issue. If my dad had done that it would have saved me 3 years of dealing with scumbag lawyers to claim what was yours to begin with. Just food for thought to those reading this post.

Havent thought about it honestly. My wifes smart enough to know theres some $ i have wrapped up in saws. All she would have to do is grab my phone and check out the tradin poast. Twould be great to see her face if that ever happened.

Actually if anything happened to me my parents would be set for the rest of their lives. I bought a HUGE life insurance policy when I was 17 and could get it super cheap, I am worth WAY more dead than alive.

I would like to think as long as someone gets to use one of my saws and it puts a smile on their face that would be nice. As all we have is what we leave behind, might as well be some kick ass saws, otherwise what do I care how they got them, I'll be dead.

I also have a spreadsheet with all my saws on it but don't have any values for ones that aren't sold. It shows what I paid but that doesn't really mean anything as sometimes I'll pay $20 for a saw, put $150 worth of parts in it, many hours of labor and then sell it for $350. If there's a saw on my spreadsheet, it may be a pile of dirty parts in a tote or be one I've been cutting with. Regarding what happens to my saws when I'm gone? I don't really care. It's small potatoes in the scheme of things. I don't have any "special" saws, just tools. All my saws together are probably $5k or so but that's not a life changer one way or the other.
