I always use non ethanol fuel. I don't do anything special for storage. I just let them sit until I need them again.
Same, run them and then I don’t, pull out to run them and never have had an issue. But I always, always blow them off after ever time I run them. Pull the top cover and recoil cover off and hit them with compressed air. Then I give them a quick touch up on the chain. Fire them on the shelf and let ‘em sit until next time.

Me too. I have more problems with that than fuel issues, lol. I dump the oil tanks and store with “pig mats” underneath.
Got an old Husky that leaks whatever bar oil is left after use. I've had it apart several times and can't find a leak anywhere. Checked the handle/tank for leaks when I built it. The lines go up and back down from reservoir to oil pump. Siphoning maybe. Dumping bar oil back into the jug is a PITA.

I find it easier to give them a run about once a month, that circulates
fuel through them.
The fuel we get out here in New Zealand putting it mildly is absolute sh-t.
And I don't like draining them out because of the carby drying out
and having problems there.

Back "in the day" of leaded fuels, I used to run them dry, pull the plug & put a little oil in the jug & spread it around with a few pulls & replace the plug. This worked well with no carb issues. Now I use VP mixed with 710 Motul@ 40:1 & leave the tank full. The full tank helps avoid condensation.
Fixt…

I dry my saws out If i knew it got no run time for a year or longer. Remove the sparkplug, pull the start Rope that the Piston ist on tdc and begin's to go down, Put 10 mililiter of 2 stroke oil in, cover the spark plug hole with a cloth and pull the start Rope again a few times.

Reinstall the sparkplug and put the saw on the shelf.

Before I could get 90 E-Free I would run a couple tanks of MotoMix and then fill the tank with Motomix to prevent condensation buildup as much as possible. That was also when I only owned 2-3 saws, so they were always in the rotation.

Now I just keep my 90 E-Free/Saber mix in the saws I plan on running in the next year. It’s worked very well. If it looks like I’m going to mothball a saw for a while, for sentimental reasons, yada yada, I’ll run Motomix through it and then run it dry.

when i store them for a long time i dump the oil out, and dump the fuel out then run them at idle until it dies the restart let it run til it dies keep doing that until it wont start. then they are good to go the next time. i also only run efree gas. my hedge trimmer has been through this process every time it gets used and its more than 20 years old and it fire right up when i add fuel to it. never had to replace a part on the carb yet. its like new

I will pass on that method, but again it's not my saw.
