Do you grease your bar tip or no?

I personally do not . I've read opinions and talked to people about this I've got a sprocket now trying to seize so I've greased it and I'll run it till it fails completely I think if I was gonna grease one I'd want a very very light grease what's your opinions

Yes. Last two Sugi's I got had a little graphic on the package showing the tip being greased.

I could believe that the cheap ones run me quite a long time especially if you can replace the tips

Yes, it creates a grease 'dam' that prevents chips from getting between the sprocket and the bar. I hate it when the sprocket gets jammed with some chips, greasing the sprocket prevents the jams.

EDIT: I wish I had started greasing the bars when I first got them. I believed a bunch of BSers on AS that the grease would collect dust and wear out the tip. Unfortunately, it appears that the opposite was true. That is, the dry sprocket could wear against the side and create extra clearance. That extra clearance is now a problem and I have to grease the bars every other cutting session to keep the bars working properly.

If I get another bar with a grease hole, I'll be greasing it before it gets used.

Don't even know if the bars on my stihls have a hole to grease the tip! lol Never looked.

Different bars have different construction. Some bars don't have the holes, which probably means the construction doesn't need it. I agree with the statement, if a bar has the hole - grease it.

I grease mine with the blue made in Germany Oregon mini grease gun. It is like 6 bucks and will lube 3 bars for a year. Bars are getting too expensive to skimp on preventative maintenance.
