Do we need page limits on threads?

I just wonder when some of the high traffic threads need to be moved to the off topic area. Cause sometimes they push the new threads to the second page in less than an hour. Then they get lost. It's like the second page of Google, you never go to the second page of Google. Lol

The best porn sites are on the second page of Google! But don't ask and then I won't tell.

I get what op is saying. Having multiple threads can only encourage more to enter a given forum. Some aren't as willing to jump into a thread with 100's of messages, as they feel a bit out of place. Personally, I think anything that encourages others to interact is a good thing, in general, on boards such as this. As long as you d0n't have some dimwit cluttering up a build-thread or something that they have no knowledge of (I'll never peep in any of those...) why not encourage the back and forth? Just my 1/4 cent.

Exactly, when you see a thread that is like you said 100 or more pages long, it's hard to get caught up enough to know what is going on.

And I will admit to being the dimwit or at least one of them that clogs a build thread. But build threads tend to be the worst about going off track, and never seeming to get finished. Been tempted to make a build thread of my own, but no-one wants to watch my special port technique that involves a stone hammer and a loincloth. Ha ha

Moving this to off topic.

Just kidding. lol

I think we should let threads evolve naturally. I've seen first-hand the mess even the most well intentioned moderater can make when he starts policing every thread. If a thread is going strong, and even close to the topic, you can bet that I'm not about to mess with it.

Most of these guys are friends of mine, and I have a lot of respect for them.

I'll say this.........if any of you guys seeing me doing something that you think is uncool, send me a message and rattle my cage. I'll make mistakes, and I need you guys to tell me anytime you see me screwing up.
