Guess I found out why the saw wasn't running right lol. She was a bit warm on that side. Maybe this is common with these, but it's a first for me.

Thought it was a 345, turns out it's a 350 with different 345 starter. This saw has never been apart to my knowledge. Plastic intake clamp/boot was perfect.

Looks like I'm going case shopping.

Exhaust side looks great, intake side not so much.

Any ideas? Is it worth rebuilding with a good used case and new piston?

My suggestion would be to look for a used 350 saw and use that one for parts. Sometimes you can find a used 350 cheaper than you can buy what you need.. I guess you could also look on ebay and see if the Chinese make a 350 case.

Why the new case? Is the clutch side so melted that a new bearing wouldn't seal?

That piston doesn't look shot....why not put a new ring in there?

Sounds pricy to me....I know because I've spent $350+ putting one of these things back together properly.

There is a guy on AS now in the wanted section that is looking for parts for his running 350. He got it cheap. Maybe he will sell 2 u cheap? Just an idea.

Or...sell your saw as a parts saw and buy another in better shape. Likely the cheapest option.

I have a bunch of 50cc husky parts. Not sure if I have a 350 case. I can check when I get home Monday. I'm away for a wedding this weekend.

I've never seen that kind of melting. If you think a new bearing/seal would be ok, I'd give it a try.
The plastic of the case was actually melted to the seal.
Think I could clean it up, sand the damaged area smooth as I can get it, and try a new seal?

@Mattyo As for parts list, plug is fine, fuel line and filter are new, carb has been kitted and is good(I think), I like the idea of reusing piston with a new caber ring, and I have plenty of motoseal. Other stuff on the list I'll have to order. Squish is huge on this one, thinking base gasket delete for sure.
Hopefully I can get this one running without too much hassle and expense.

Doesn't need to be a hot rod, it's my 79 year old father's saw. He uses it sparingly. Only reason he dropped it off was it kept shutting off when he'd set it down.

It might be just fine. Just make sure the sealer you use on the bearings is rated for adhesion to plastic.

Thats what i would do, clean it up, bearings/seals and a new ring. At least that way ur only out labor if it melts down again.
