I have a 4.5 year old Cub Cadet XT1 LT42E which just stopped working.

On key insertion it throws three error codes (E702, E705 and E715). The charge level is 99%.
Thanks to another user on this forum who has shared a list of error codes I can see that these codes pertain to the battery. (Sadly the battery warranty expired a few months ago).

I have looked for loose or worn connections under the top battery cover - but it all looks OK.

I have a couple of questions for anyone who has experience of these errors.
1) Was there any solution other than battery replacement? I don't have expertise to open up and repair such batteries.
2) Is battery replacement feasible / safe for a homeowner? Labels warn that no user-serviceable parts are in there. I have come across one Youtube video showing a battery being replaced.

You can replace the battery yourself. Here is the rub I am not sure if the battery is serialized.

JD22 replaced a battery and they did not say any special process was required.

  • E702 → battery voltage problem
  • E705 → communication problem with the battery
  • E715 → battery refusing to charge
  • Don't open the battery there is nothing you can do with it unless you are a battery technician.
  • If you have removed batteries from a car or truck these are not much harder than that.
