I didn't think it was hard starting but I start them every day.
It's right at 200lb but if you pull on it like you mean it,it will start in a couple pulls.
It was unique to that one day Jason.

Rarely does a saw bite me. It did that one day. I decided to put an elastostart on it, but even without it, it started easily the next day. It also has that issue with the starter pawls, so I'm out a foot of cord before it grabs. That don't help things cause I can't get it to TDC before pulling it. Also creates a smaller pulley effect.

I'm wondering if it hade been flooded out or something. Not sure. I know I could not start it that one day, but the following day it started right up.

I hit the covers with boiled linseed oil and they look pretty good. I'd hate to ruin the looks of it with a decomp, but I do appreciate the offer.

Sounds like the spool is worn out.
I have all the new parts so I'll rebuild a recoil and trade you

Funny thing was I took off the clutch to put an 8 pin on it last week and it already had one on it! You can lug it down to 6k in the cut without stalling, but it likes to be around 10k in cut 24" buried. Likes tune at 13k

Sounds good for sure. I think this one has new parts also, IIRC.
You are correct, that one is rebuilt.

I finished a saw just like it yesterday with less from the chamber than yours and it's almost impossible to start.
I thought it broke my pinky finger.

Why do you think?

I pulled the plug that day, because the damn thing felt like it had a piston stop installed. Pulled over just fine.

The next day, no problem pulling it over. Very odd.

Once they bite cha once, you tend to look at them funny.

It has to be from the exhaust height.
This saw is less than 200 lb and yours is 200lb,that's not that much but it has to be a longer compression stroke from the exhaust being so low.
That's the best my brain will allow me to come up with at 530 in the morning .lol

Al and Dan.
Maybe try one of those D ring starter handles. Like the ones that come on the Stihl 460 Rescue saw. Makes starting a whole lot easier.

Hey J how much compression does Sondre's 066 have? That saw bit me real good  first time I tried pulling it over as I did not expect it to be like that lol. After I expected it it was easy for me. Could it be the timing advance?
