I here you Bill. My point of being extremely dependable and reliable seems to have been missed. If it was my only saw I had I'd be happy with it, just as I was.
But I got hooked on this fad. The rest is history.

I've had my Stihl 029 for over 20 years, and only had to do very minor maintainance. Fuel filter twice and fuel line once. Air filters twice. I cut many cord of wood with it. Never let me down. That is good design, dependability and engineering.
One cannot argue that.

Same with my husky 55 Jeff. I've never even changed the plug or air filter. Knocked it off is about it.

All of this is a perfect example of Husqvarna and their better design. ;)
Having to pull the jug to fix a clamp on a rubber intake boot that was originally attached with a plastic wire tie is piss poor engineering. The very reason why I won't buy one. This was given to me by my FIL. That is bad enough.
I'll stick with my Stihl's and be very happy. Thank you.

I'll take that 345 POS off your hands Jeff. It seems to be causing you trouble and taking up space. I've got room in my husky rehab here [emoji41]

Trade you for your 261
Wouldn't want you guys to suffer by running a saw that is not loved.

Great idea Al, I'm sure that he would love to have his own Stihl !
Please work up a price for something he can play with and let me know how much for it. He loves working on saws !
Price is cost and a 12 pack. It's fair that way. If I asked you to pay for all the beer, you could buy him a new 661.

I'll bring the 51 that needs assembly, my 262, 372, and the 365 special that needs to be looked into.

No Stihls for me -- keeping with the Feb 11th Hooskie day. ;)

All my saws work now, but look likes Eric will be fixing his Huskies at the "mini" GTG. LOL. Dan, you should have had a mini GTG last time so I could fix my saw before showing up for the main event.

Also, Matt- I looked up that bearing on my go-to internet supplier website. The Husqvarna brand bearing/seal is $30, but the number cross references to a Poulan bearing/seal and it's only $19. Think it's the same?

The only problem Mike is that it's true, dot dot dot.

Generally you'll find Dr. MattyO in the middle of the scrum.

I happen to like my torque wrench... guess everyone else is just curious how to use one lol

Ok,
Just a thought...Jeff this "other brand" runs ....right ?
It needs a proper intake clamp ...right ?
Why not take it down and CHECK the bearings and seals before we throw good money after bad into a Husky (oops...I said it)
I'm not usually a big fan of reusing bottom end stuff on my saws but ...they are mostly Stihl saws and hold some value...as opposed to "that other brand" that is usual worth the amount of bar oil and mix in the saw.

I've been tricked by bearing and seals before and been blessed as well. I check (clean and degrease then listen to them dry) no matter what. No sense spending $50 in bearings in a $40 saw......unless you have to..

But taking down a saw for chits and giggles...yea I'm up for that.
