I'm trying to do my own 262 and have another 036 and a few 026 for the event.

Just brought home some big saw wood!

I guess we need to set a date. If it's in May I can do the weekend of the 6th. I'm not opposed to doing an early gtg in March though. Or late June...
If I remember correctly may 6 was iffy for some of you.

It's red oak.
I didn't realize Mother's Day was that Sunday...
I could do Mar 18-20, Apr 1-3, May and June are wide open for me but tough for some with kids.

Red oak is all over the place in my area. White oak too... First tree when my 372 was brand new was massive red oak... Made for a fun day!

Part of the reason there are so many Red Oaks is because it likes acidic soil, and over the last few decades that had been a problem. Luckily the acid rain situation has improved, but several lakes in the Adirondacks were completely void of fish before they addressed the problem.

I notice an increasing # of them on my property in the Catskills. Previously Cherry, Ash & Hard Maple were the majority of the trees. The Gypsie moths devastated the Hard Maple up there a few years back, and many of them still have dead tops.

My wife and I went up once in the spring, and we had to come home. If you walked out of the cabin you were covered in webs, and you could hear them eating. It was not a good time. I've never seen it that bad before or since, but they are supposed to be on a 7 year cycle.

Hell, what says I love you more than a chainsaw GTG and an overnight stay in CT.

She won't even have to make me Breakfast Sunday Morning.

On a serious note,

Perhaps a Friday night gtg for beers and setup and all day Saturday event?

Ok so we need to lock this down. I've got a wedding and things that have crept into my schedule. So I'm going to have to go with May 7th as the official gtg date. Friday the 6th will be setup, campfire, talking saws or whatever, beers, etc. and if anyone want to come on Sunday that's fine too.

If you plan to bring your wife/ girlfriend, the Norwich Inn and Spa is pretty nice. Or there is plenty of more affordable hotels close as well. If you want to throw up a tent I'm cool with that too.

Riding is real painful right now. Sitting is ok.....but I got stand up every few minutes or my leg starts feeling numb. I'm really doing better....but not well yet by any means.
