The difference was that it had really good stock timing in the trans. So I took a little off the base to get comppression up and left the upper trans stock. They had good shape so the only thing I would have done by grinding on em would be messin em up.Well said! Anything in particular about this build that you think made the difference?
Thank you for the kind words !Certainly the chain Kevin gave me that is square filed has a great depth gauge height and tooth profile... Feeds great and throws big chips and chunks. Made my 372 like a different saw even. That chain was dialed in!
That one is for my MMWS 262 which has about the same power as my stock 372 so it can be just as aggressive! @huskyboy @Derf Mason and Fred and Mason's dad all ran the 372 and were impressed. Fred definitely ran it with the round chain and noticed the difference after we suited her up with your chain. Thanks Kevin! This is what GTGs are all about. Fred wanted to run a stock xtorq 372 for his reference I think he has 395 (I ran that last time it was smooth in terms of vibes compared to the stihls) these events are perfect for seeing what others saws are all about. This was the hybrid GTG and many more 70cc class and last one was 90 and 60 cc. Oh and @leeh has made his own classThank you for the kind words !
I've got another one here for you, do you want it set up the same, or a little less aggressive for a different saw ?
If there is a stock one
Sometimes you get a good one that just runs good for no reason or from anything different you did.
Why I say it's the chain is there almost identical with a 20" even though the hybrid is tuned faster so the bigger saw has more grunt and with a much longer bar and equal chains the bigger saw will be ahead there's no way around it.
Still awesome to see the comparison, it's a lot of work,I do it all the time I know so thanks for the work and your time dan.
At least that's what I always find. That makes sense. If they are same speed then that means chain speed is the same for both saws even though one is tuned higher. So the hybrid is being pulled down farther. At these lengths with a work chain they are very close. Longer and the 064 would pull ahead for sure.
At least that's what I always find.
I haven't had a hybrid to play with but a 064 and a 066 are close with a 20" then as the bar gets longer or the sprocket bigger the 066 gets farther ahead.
I gotta get him to send me that hybrid.
I'd like to run it some
