It runs great. Squish was identical Meteor to Cross. I've actually got a complete China Saw setup the same I hoped to get into wood this week but family situation has stopped that.

I like the cylinder and the way the saw runs with it..

Thanks.
Can you check the compression?

Since Both pistons are using Caber Rings, s/b pretty similar if the squish is the same.

@Gentleman

What I get with less than 5 minutes run time, no cuts made.

Maybe it needs thin base gasket.....

Nah.

That's a lot of compression. You installed it w/o a gasket?
So how does it run?
I have been thinking of switching piston manufactures and including the Meteor piston instead of Chinese.

Bruce @Gentleman I have had a couple of these cylinders that the floor of the exhaust port was not beveled at all, and several have reported (I personally had one) that the base is not square to the bore. The one I had was checked by @rattler and myself, was off 0.004" side to side. Is there a change being made to correct this? I would really like for these to be a bolt on option, even if the cost went up a little more.

I need to discuss with the factory. If they can understand me

Well I had a bunch of dental work this AM. Took the day off, its 60°, and I wanted to run this pig. We made half a cut...

Case pin backed out after I thought they were set too deep to the flywheel. Clutch, oil pump driver, oil pump and mount bolts are toast. It ran real good first half the cut with 32" wide nose, full comp buried.

Cross jug, meteor piston. No gasket, just 518. Dual outlet muffler. Tuned nice, spooled nice, etc. Had to shave the skirt on meteor for FarmerTec crank, OEM crank cleared nicely. Its a good combo from what I see.

I noticed when I did mine that the pins seemed to fit a little loose. I used motoseal on both sides of the gasket. Hoping now that it'll help keep those pins in place

To keep this thread clean Ill start another in a little bit. Get some more minds on the site thinking "how to prevent" and make it searchable.

The pins on the early kits were much too loose, I got lucky and my pin fell out when I was hammering the crank to center it.

The two most recent kits I got had pins that were in solid.

Sorry that happened to you, you were not the first, it was in some of the threads, but tough to keep track of all of it.

On another note, glad to hear the saw ran well. I like those Cross cylinders.

OEM pistons are no longer $60, but Meteor is still a great deal.

The Meteor piston, however, will not give you .020 squish with a gasket delete (and I don't have ability to cut this squish band).

I also have not seen much evidence of the Cross Pistons failing, and they seem to run real well. The piston itself was also lighter than OEM, but not the pin. I was also impressed that they were shipped with Caber Rings.

If I encounter any failures I'll report them. I will also recommend running at 40:1 or better to have some oil between the piston + cylinder.
Did you get any piston scuffing mike I just put a meteor in a kit and there’s a little bit of scuffing starting to show the first kit lost plating above the exhaust port.

I've not had any problems with either the Meteor or Cross pistons in the 660s, but all my cylinders are either OEM or Cross, and I run Saber at 40:1.

My Blue Covered saw has a Cross cylinder and Meteor piston and went to a pro firewood guy who uses it every day. I insisted he run Saber at 40:1 in it, as it has been ported and runs strong.

They run it hard every day and have not had any problems ... they love the power as they are often dealing with large rounds.
