I buy and sell ALOT of saws. I'm always impressed with the way people check out saws and there crazy theories on them. Here is a few, please feel free to add.

Guy buys a saw the other day, starts it and sets it on the floor. Claims at idle it should vibrate around in a full circle if the compression is good.

Had a guy buy a 201t and held his ear up to the air filter cover and revved it. Still trying to figure this one out??

Always love the guy that starts it and revs the crap out of it for minutes on end.

If it's a husky, it should at least fall over on its side while idling. I don't know if it would make a complete circle or not:roto2nuse:

I once tried starting a Dolmar PS-7900 with the kill switch in OFF position!
After 4-6 pulls the seller told me to put it in ON position to start it.

Crazy thing is I own a Dolmar PS-6400 since long before I went to purchase the PS-7900 so these saws are not unfamiliar to me!
I had luck and the PS-7900 didn't flood (several pulls on choke + kill switch in OFF will easily flood these saws).

That was damn embarrassing!
I claim to have been overexcited as I always wanted a PS-7900, thus my brain just shut off. bonkers.gif

I call this particular saw my own since, no regrets whatsoever! throb.gif

The old "letting it drop only holding the starter to check compression" has always intrigued me. I'm still trying to figure this one out.
This is the one I was going to post. It takes a ton of compression or a cylinder full of oil.

Or the ones I cringe are cutting wood with non saw folk. I have seen this one guy start a 455 with brake on and hi idle until there was smoke just a rolling out of the cover. Yesterday a guy started a ms180 and wot as soon as it fired for 1 minute then into the log never let off the poor thing.
