FYI if you own a ford 6.7L diesel you better change out the cp4 hpfp to a cp3 as preventative maint...or end up with a really ugly repair bill north of 10 grand...when the cp4 pump fails it throws a glitter party through every injector.

The CP3 in no way shape or form can fit in where the CP4 mounts. It simply can not physically fit.

I've seen CP4 pumps fail. One was due to gelling. Another was due to a fuel supply issue.

If you always have a steady clean supply of fuel to the CP4 they are not a problem.

300k on our cp4. 178k on our other cp4. I have never personally heard of anyone having a cp4 failure on a 6.7 Ford. Not saying it doesn't happen but I believe it's over hyped.

Getting forced into replacing my '06 F350 single cab XL 4wd as it's just under 280k on the 5.4 gas...it has been a damn good truck though.
Looking at available options sort of sux, moneywise is a big part, but lack of an 8' bed and way too many gizmos in my opinion, screens and lane warnings ought to stick to high-end sedans.
Brings up an honest, I do not know question: I imagine all the sensors, etc. for the warning systems are located in the corners of the vehicles (guessing in the head/tail light housings?), which are likely to be the first damaged in a collision. I assume replacing the sensors etc is kind of spendy, right? Taking a truck in the woods for a load of firewood or to drag something out could prob run into the thousands if you bust out a corner light, or am I wayyyy off track?

I purchased my first new truck a Chevy K30 4x4 for 13,280 in 1987 the best truck I ever owned , now that truck would cost 650% more today , Manufacturing cost have gone way up along with emissions standards,along with wages and health benefits going way up, and paying retirement packages and health benefits for retired are a huge factor, with cost of new trucks these days , It’s awfully hard to justify how the average person can afford it ,

Most the sensors are in the mirrors, windshields, and behind the bumpers. Believe it or not most manufacturers of 3/4 ton and up trucks know the models will be work trucks and subjected to the kinds of environments you are talking about. Go pick out a new truck that fits your liking and budget and use it as a truck!

I had my 1998 Ranger for 20 years. 2wd/4banger/manual transmission/no air/regular cab/ power nothing. The guy I sold it to loves the truck and was super stoked to get it. Dad gave me a sweet deal on his loaded 2012 Dodge 4wd V8 crew cab. Nice truck, but I’m still not used to it!

My uncle retired at 55 from a GM facility, he had 32 years in , he’s collecting 75% of his annual salary for pension and full health benefits for him for life he’s 79 now , but I’m sure that’s changed now but there’s thousands of employees like him , that a staggering statistic cost wise , considering how much healthcare costs these days,

Pulled a shiny new 6.7 powerstroke crewcab off the highway. It died on a steep hill in the middle of the parks highway, pulling a double axle gooseneck camper. One guy in a Ford expedition hooked up, and roached his torque convertor trying to pull this elderly couple off the highway.

I locked in 4 low, and pulled the circus off the highway to the top of the hill with the ole 7.3 powerstroke. I loosened pinion bearing preload on my front axle pulling all that weight in 4 low.

We had to call a special tow truck designed for tractor trailer trucks/w trailer, to pull the whole thing to fairbanks.

To be far though, few years ago, my old ford died in the very same fashion: on a steep blind hill while towing an m1031 cucv on a trailer. It's what Ford trucks do new or old: die in the worst, most dangerous fkn place possible. A new 6.7 powerstroke came out of nowhere and pulled me to safety!

That "Found On Road Dead" moniker, FORD guys actually stop to help ford drivers.
