IMO, if you have to put steps into tailgates, steps in the sides of the bed, and running boards so you can get into the truck to use it - it is too tall.
Had mostly Ford trucks in the family since the late 60's, with a Dodge/Ram along the way.
1972 F150 I could reach over the pickup bed side to get items from the bed. On my current F250, that isn't going to happen. My wife can't get into the truck without a step stool (I bought running boards so I'll have those on before too long).
On the modules everywhere - have you guys seen the price for replacing a taillight on a newer Ford?
Unreal to me.
Too many bells and whistles driving up the cost BUT that is what is selling as all the people buying "luxury" trucks are driving the sales for the truck manufacturers.
And because of the cost of the tail lights, they are being stolen from parked trucks:
Parts shortages leading to parts being stolen and sold on the "black market". It's just crazy - people stealing tailgates and tail lights.
The cost to replace a broken "blind spot" mirror is ridiculous too. I want a low tech truck, as low tech as possible. A truck needs to work, not showboat (my opinion only of course).
I mean, come on! Do you need massaging seats!!
