Whoever came up with that idea should be rewarded. Because so often I read a post and think it's clever and witty, but I'm too dumb to come up with a clever and witty reply, but if I really focus my brain cell, I can manage to click the "like" button.

Yes, I agree, although it would be great to add a "throwing up" icon 🤮 in the quick-pick-mix as some posts do deserve it!

I think it’s a “facebookism” that carried over into forums. I’ve never cared for it, but have been trying to get better about liking posts over the years.
I type all day and it’s the last thing I want to do when not working, so I’ve never been a big contributor to the forums. When I have time to log in and get to enjoy what some folks contributed, I try to show my appreciation by liking their posts. I still don’t do it enough.

Not the same as giving likes but the reverse.

Years ago we had a helluva time finding a place in NE Missouri. The next year when we had to go back my wife borrowed her father's Garmin. We turned it on while still in the town we live next to. The damn thing told us to turn down an alley and go behind a furniture plant. I have lived here my entire life and knew it was wrong. I yelled at the damn thing. The funny thing is that was the only mistake it made the entire trip. Of course if you did not turn where it said to it would nicely say "recalculating". Ever since then I have thought someone could get rich if they developed a sarcastic GPS. If you make a wrong turn it says something like......look a hole pull your head out and pay attention........

I had a similar incident several years ago with our Garmin GPS. We were headed camping with the family, and I was towing a small popup camper with the wife's Subaru Forester. We were about an hour from our destination and the GPS had us turn off a state highway onto a rough B road in farm country. I protested, but the wife insisted that I follow the GPS. The B road turned into a single track gravel road which terminated at a farm owned by a Mennonite family.

I got some dirty looks from the folks at the farm, and I apologized to the older gentleman who walked up to greet us. I explained that I was following the electronics and he laughed immediately. He said that they get about 2 people a week, often towing a trailer, who are led to their home by incorrect GPS instructions.

On my way out of there, heading back to the main road, the Garmin chirped "Turn left and begin navigating off-road..." Which would have been right through this farmer's hayfield.

I almost threw it out the window.
