We talk about stupid stuff customers do to their machines, intentional or accidental. Sometimes they get things right. After all, a lot of the things we do to machines are made up as you go along. Here's one of the coolest I've seen lately.
He could have ordered a new roller but he decided to put lots of time and effort into it.

Geez, all I see is a good idea worth stealing!
Less money than the 'green' store wants for a plastic roller, and drilling two holes on the drill press or in the lathe is only a couple seconds per.

Now, if it had a couple bearings and a grease zerk... and a... :)

Did something similar to my Old John Deere. It had the worthless goddam skid on the front of the deck that caught on everything.

So a piece of 4" pipe,various scraps of steel and a hour later...it had a noisy but effective gage wheel!
