One more post. I can say the spring kit
A. It isn't a minor improvement, it's way better.
B. Doesn't turn the saw into a hard body. Which was something I was on edge about worrying.

I didn't have anything to fell with this short time but I did have some pine to buck. The saw no longer has a fine line between stall and run. I got to try it with the 20" 28" and 36" and I now wish I did it sooner. Maybe the 3 points on the 500 wouldn't have been a turn off. (Still not taking them off the 660)

Earlier someone mentioned they thought the buffers, and springs in the kit were off a 661. Anyone that can confirm that? It looks like WCS jacked the price up to $50. I thought it was only $15-20 a short while ago :(

By hard body are you meaning like a rubber mount saw with hard AV's, or worse?

Either that or worse. - My worry was it would make it vibrate being such a light saw.
But it didn't make it like that. I would say thing springs are a little heavier than my 372xp and the 36" bar hangs well on it now. Before it would pretty much max out the spring just sitting the nose down.

I paid the $50 for it, I think the 462 is $10 cheaper since it doesn't need the spring. The rubber buffer I'm pretty sure are freshly made. the foam star may be an OEM part and the spring IS OEM.

OEM spring $10/11
Star Buffer $5-10 (Still no idea what model or it could very well be made for them.)
Black buffer $8x2 (Since they are more than likely having these parts made it will cost more than a large production run like stihl's. This is probably where the majority of cost comes in.)

I can't tell with the annular buffer (the star). When I look up the ones for the 661 it seems like they are black rubber. I can't find one that's white/cream color with 6 points.

Pretty easy to put them in. I’ve done it a few times already now, and have even installed it down in the strip for someone else.

Those might be a Stihl part too, actually. I'm looking at the IPL for the 500i, 462. If I'm oriented correctly I think the 661 p/ns are 1133 791 5900, 1138 791 5903

Looks like the stock 500i p/n are 1141 791 5902

462 p/n 1133 791 5900

I'll try to find 661cm IPL to compare to.

I believe they were custom designed between WCS and @mortalitool
The rubber buffers at least.

Most of the trees are about this size on this strip. Some smaller, and some bigger. But on average, a 32 either barely sweeps, or not quite. I’m taking one or two 35’ logs off of these to make things a little easier to handle, as these are getting yarded to a paved road.
I stopped using the bark box here...I’m back to the single port. My saw was rev-bogging when cutting all the brush.
