Interesting. Anyone try PODS in their USC?
It does soften most carbon residue I found, just not the most stubborn crusty stuff. I was able to wipe out 99% of the carbon from a polished exhaust port after the pod softened it. I tried a bit of AntiCreoSoot on a piston crown and that didn't help any, but Rutland wood stove glass cleaner looks like a potential option for hard to remove carbon. It does require scrubbing still.Maybe a half an hour to forty five minutes if you brush the thick stuff off first. Also it won't take thick carbon out of the exhaust port.
Since were talking pods and usc. The cylinder boiled in a bucket with 3 or 4 pods in it for about 4 hours. I think LA awesome works a little bit quicker and they come out shinier, but the dishwasher pods are cheap and they certainly do work

Tim sent me a box of 365 a while back. This saw was similar, but worse. There was not one spot of bare aluminum on that cylinder. And many of the fins were caked solidThat looks like one of Tim's projects @cuinrearview
Well, it might have been too clean for Tim initially...

...with drain oil for bar lubeIt's almost as if Tim goes out of his way to exclusively cut Railroad ties in his spare time.

The Walmart pods leave it a medium color. Totally Awesome starts to turn it bright, other cleaners will instantly turn it dark grayI find the pods turn bare aluminum dark colored, does it oxidize it or what?
