Does your 660's oil well with longer bars?

A couple things to consider:

1. Stihl offered a "HO" Oiler for the 66s.
2. Bar Oil Holes play a big part.

My 66 with a 36" Stihl ES was "meh."
With my Sugi Hara 36", it's like a Labrador Retriever.

I have a HO oiler for my 66 in my truck, but i don't need it with the Sugi or the 30" ES.

My 066 will near empty the oil tank on some bars but not on others...... I will be checking the bar hole size.
I have had no issues with oiling my bars up to 30" but my 42" Oregon Power Match gets quite warm. Not hot, just hotter than the shorter bars.

I think I will drill the hole in the bar to let more oil in.

Bar oil hole on my ES is small compared the husky techlite bar.

25" Stihl E bar top
42" Oregon power match bar bottom

The Oregon bars are getting drilled, no wonder it was getting hot

Those angled bar oil holes can be a real PIA to drill out. I've had good luck using the tip of a long skinny double cut carbide bit. This is the bit I've used. image.jpeg I think the very tip is about 1/8".

I just drilled it on an angle taking care not to enlarge the hole any further towards the top of the bar.

I took it out to 1/8 which is double what it was but still just smaller than the Stihl E bar

I used the drill to enlarge the Chanel as well but care should be taken to not go outside the oil slot area or it will leak.

It looks much better now

It does but it don't oil like a 066

The new GB bar I bought had the same little angled hole as the Oregon bars do I drilled it out as well

Oiler at max, that's about 3o seconds at WOT and a 10 second video of the red light operating which I will post up in the 066 red light thread soon

Finally got to read this whole thread. Lots of work going into this. Good job boys.

I do have a question. @awol jump on here.

288 pistion nice. But what about let's say an 056 stihl or 385 piston?

There both 54mm.

Know there's a good reason. I just don't know it. Lol.
