Had another Rocky Patel today. Another very good cigar. Smooth, great taste, great construction. Definitely will be buying a box of these. So far, Rocky Patel is 100%, from the couple I've had.

Rocky smokes are hit or big miss. I’d recommend you try singles. I will agree the one you’re smoking there is a good one. I’ll buy a few here and there
(Random rocky Patel). Seems some are good others are just sorta lacking.

I think that's probably safe to say for any manufacturer though. No one puts out nothing but winners.

I'm a big sampler guy. I buy a lot of them. That's where these come from. If I run across something I like enough that makes an impression, I like to buy a box. I'm going to start aging cigars for years.

I'm a long ways away from any cigar shop and the only one I know of, is small and lacking and an hour and a half away. So samplers are the best way for me to try a bunch of different brands, unfortunately. It's a price I have to pay, to live in rural America with a low population.

I've only ran across 2 cigars that I wouldn't finish and gave the extras away. So samplers are a pretty safe bet for me to try as much variety as possible.

Agreed. I do age some smokes. I bought a lot of stuff I don’t love so much these days is all I was getting at. I’ll smoke em all no doubt but I bought boxes of unknown stuff from cbid years ago. Lol kinda got what I paid for. I learned some stuff along the way. Obviously I’m still learning. I subscribed to basically every cigar company and I check my emails. If it isn’t on a good sale. I’m not buying.
Have you dabbled with Oliva cigars? Haven’t had a terrible smoke from them. My father are all pretty good. Viaje Tatuaje.

The fellas over on the FHC cigar thread, just turned me onto Cigar Bid............*s-word gets wild on there..........fast! Lol

Here's my background with cigars. I've only been smoking them for about 5 years maybe, give or take. I actually started a discussion on the FHC thread, that if you'd like to respond on the topic in this thread, I'd love to read it. I asked the fellas what their 3, or however many, favorite cigars are, for whatever reason. But anyway, I'm a creature of habit, with about everything. When I find something I like, I'm all in. Be it hobbies, certain aspects of said hobbies, whatever it is. Cigars is no different really.

So when I found a few types of cigars I liked, I stuck to those, until recently, with the exception of a sampler here or there. I have a handful of cigars I bought boxes of and when I found a handful of cigarillos I liked, I loaded up and I pretty well stuck to those.

I've just recently started branching out and trying new manufacturers and brands.

I stay away from "cheap" cigars, like the buck a cigar samplers and off brand stuff and do try to buy the better samplers. Mostly for the same reason you mentioned. Too much junk when I started.

I'd rather smoke a cigarillo I like, than a big cigar that sucks, even if cost is the same.

I have had a lot of Nubs and don't ever recall having a bad one, but that Oliva V I had the other day was my first full sized Oliva. I do have a Oliva mega sampler coming. Has the Serie 'O, Connecticut Reserve, Serie 'G and Saison's.

Sorry for the novel fellas......Lol

That said I did buy a box of these without ever trying them but I trust viaje pretty well

I buy Drew Estate's by the box, without trying them, because I've never had a bad one. I did buy a lot of the USA Cohibas recently too without trying them, because they were like 85 bucks a bundle of 25 and I'd never had them. They were stupid expensive every where I looked. A lot of people seem to like them.

Top three will change tomorrow

don pepin “blue” in toro. Just a nice cigar roll is always spot on. Some flavor transitions. Often on sale.
Blackbird unkind robusto. Totally unique flavor profile Just great
Tatuaje cojonu 2012 Sumatra. They offer a broadleaf too that’s good but. This is one of the best cigars I’ve ever smoked. Price ranks it lower on my list. Excellent cigar though.

honerable mention padron 1926 maduro or natural
Padron 1964 either or. They’re too expensive. Only gripe

seriously you could ask the same question and I’d change my answer. However if I run out of any of those I’ll restock and have restocked

I understand completely. Cigars are complex. The same cigar can change for a variety of reasons and as we try new ones, some will bump up in ranking.

Platinums are my favorite and have been since I started.
Acid cigarillos would be second......any flavor. I smoke more of these than anything.
Third used to be JR Alternative's knock off of the Montecristo No.2, mostly because they're good, but don't break the bank, but that's been bumped.

These RP Royale's are better. Tabak's of any flavor are better too now.
