How many times has that fuel been refined ? It should say on the can. I have read that some fluids can goober up lighters.

Sometimes the igniter tip just needs adjusted a bit.

I looked and didn't see it on this can anywhere. Sounds like I need to try a different fuel first, before calling Xikar.

The Xikar will go full squirt, if it's already lit, but I can't get it to light if it's on full blast, or close to it.

I’ve got some platinum. I won’t restock those. Not terrible but these are special. They need that lay down time you mentioned. The. They turn into great cigars.

man like @JimBear mentioned fluid is finicky. I’ve got a big table lighter I burned all my sub par fluid through cause it would burn anything. I switched to colibri fluid and it cleaned my lighters up that were acting funky. Like I won’t buy any other fluid.
I know for a fact there’s other good ones. I just found that this stuff works good so I’ll never change
Like even my old sputtery lighters started working good after a tank or two of the colibri

Funny you mentioned "sputtery", because that's exactly what mine do. The flame is clean at about half power, but go up, or down, and it's starts sputtering and acting like it's about out of fuel, which it's definitely not.

I'm going to try a different brand first. My oldest and first lighter does fine, so I ever thought about it being bad fuel.

Thanks Jake and Jim. Hopefully better fuel fixes the issues. I'm about out anyway, so timing is good.

I have this can that I haven’t had any issues with but I also have several cans of this Xicar

the Xicar just lists parts per million (in the blue print)

Yep. Sounds about right. Like I say I have a couple lighters that’ll burn anything. Seems my better lighters want the high test

The xikar is good stuff. Reddit put me on the colibri while I troubleshoot (troubleshooted?) my lighter issues. Most of mine were sputtery and hateful.
Only recommending colibri cause some other cigar hippies put me on it and it kinda saved a few lighters from trash can

I actually have 2 Prometheus lighters, a large & a smaller one. Other than size the only difference is the smaller one only has one punch cutter.

I saw the Xikar fuel too. I may order Colibri and Xikar fuel. That way, if it still happens, I can let them know it's happening with their fuel.

Total blasphemy, but one of the best cigars I ever had was machine rolled (but still leaf wrapper) and came in a glass tube purchased at a drugstore. Maybe I just got one in a million, but I smoked it down to the last inch and enjoyed every bit of it.

Bleed lighter out good then refill with good fuel. It took my lighter like 2 tanks to start to become “reliable”

If they took the time to put it in a glass tube mighta just been a good smoke.

Best thing about cigars is, it's all subjective and as long as that drugstore cigar tasted great to you, that's all that matters.

I've got both brands coming. Since I have 3 lighters (2 are worse), I may try the Colibri in the Jet Line and the Xikar in the Xikar.

Kinda one of them obvious things I should've thought of, but sometimes it's like that. Lol

Hopefully, I have good luck and it makes them work good.

Hope you have good luck too. I literally googled her lighter sputtering Reddit. Lol. So it took someone telling me. I thought butane is butane. My uncle has a snap on butane torch and had trouble with zippo fluid. Not saying it’s bad but I’d use it up in the lighter you have that seems to be bulletproof

I agree with ya. I'm going to finish the Zippo stuff on my 10 dollar garage lighter. It runs like a champ.

Thanks again for the help man!
