How important are chainsaw specific boots? vs say a leather boot with a steel toe?

I'm a homeowner and i'll be mostly using my chainsaw (and an axe) for firewood processing.

I bought Haix Chainsaw boots but I feel very restricted walking around in them so probably going to return - I think they might break in some??? I was looking at some other lower cut leather boots with a steel toe. (like Redback or Danner)

I can see that these Haix would give great protection but I feel like being better balanced / nimble on my feet is more important. I for sure want max protection since I'm inexperienced so far but I am wondering how likely it is for a chainsaw to hit my foot?

thank you!

My personal opinion is get boots you are comfortable in.anything can happen running a chainsaw but if you can't walk good in them that just adds to the danger.

I have a pair of pricey Redwings that served me well for years. With age and weaker legs now, however, they are just too heavy so I use a pair of Danners now. I found myself having a lot of trouble moving around while disassembling a tree and it got dangerous. Find something that you can move and move quickly in!

I have some orange viking with the shoe strings in the back. Mine are quite a few years old. Not for hiking.

I started out about 50yrs ago logging wearing blue jeans and leather boots.
Since that time I barely touched my chaps once with the saw and another time I cut the rubber on a pair of Lacrosse iceman winter pac boots without going through the boot let alone the inner wool liner. others that I have known have not as fortunate and others never been injured.
Have worn Red wiings, Carolina loggers, Whites, Lacrosse and several others over the years.

with a 50% discount I am presently wearing Haix.
I like the Haix Ultra Prime for the great ankle support but do find it kind of clunky for walking around and general wear.
I like the Haix XR200 lighter weight with the composite toe and flatter normal sole for general walking driving etc, not quite the ankle support but not bad either the lower height and lack of the upper cuff does seem to allow my socks to collect more wood chips.

Actually just now packing up for a 4 day tree job, Ultra primes, XR200 and a pair of Keene mid top hikers thinking the XR200s will get the most daily wear but like having options.:jaja-no:

somewhere on the interweb is chart showing the percentage of chainsaw cuts and which parts of the body are most cut.

At present, no steel but I cut so rarely anymore I may not buy another specific pair of boots with steel.
