I have NO background in the diesels. So I'm just the peanut gallery gawker trying to learn a little here.
thus my questions.
edit: I don't know the service intervals of the engine or it's current usage, etc. So I'm clueless here.
Is there any precedent for having this engines head skimmed or checked for straightness while it's off?
Should the valves, keepers, seals, guides or seats be eyeballed too?
This is just my opinion I don't think there is enough material on the head to deck it. To me it looks like a throw away head.
I got the engine to rotate 360 degrees . Thats what the owner wants. He spent 600.00$ on a new oil pump. I really don't think there will be any compression on the one cylinder I had to sand down the rust on. Just trying to help out.
Bad head gasket. Filled cylinder up with water. cant compress liquid . Broke the oil pump pins inside the oil pump.
Im confused. How does a hydro-locked cylinder break an oil pump? Id be more worried about a short rod.
If it was mine I would rebuild it. The owner said clean cylinder replace head gasket and install new oil pump. I do what I am told. YA RIGHT
Can anyone tell me the name of the washer that goes under the injectors? I am having a hard time finding them.
