If you can do some of the stuff above I’d be in for one.

I don’t have nor am I familiar with Steehl stuff. But I can make holes ‘n slots any size you’d like. My 30” is Stihl mount, wider slots, uses an adapter for my huskies. So I’m assuming that width, but longer slot such as my husky mount bars?

Correct it’ll mean length of chain no matter what saw it’s going on.

@SOS Ridgerider maybe we should move this thread and rename to the 42" LW thread...or merge? I think there was another too...
I can rename and move. How about calling it Reduced weight 42” bar and move it over to the general chainsaw page? Just say the word, and I’ll move it.

If you do 2 cut outs you could drill a hole in one side first and bolt it to the table? Or if your machining out only a 3rd of the depth from each side your mount holes for fixtures would be covered with fiber when finished.
Just an idea.

Not sure if you know but the factory RW bars aren’t milled completely out like that. They have a thin strip of material in between the insets

Looks like he left a thin rib. Look at the far end of the first pic. Curious how this turns out.

This one will have one smaller 1/16” panel in the middle and one larger on each side. In the future I might leave the middle flange very thin and just have one thicker panel on each side.

I ordered a small stack of 32” bars today. I’m itching to order 42” too but I really should finish the test bar and abuse it first.

Large stihl mount, right?

@chiselbit wants 34”
Anyone else?

Other sizes? 28” k095 for long reach limbing saws… @Benwa
