How big of a deal you reckon it would be to take a stihl standard rollomatic bar and drill some holes?

Never thought about doing it like that. I've got an old 25" stihl laying around that I might just bite into in the next few weeks. What would you recommend on hole sizing, quantity, and spacing

I’d take a little less meat out than tsumura as their material seems to be really strong and they don’t leave a lot of metal.

Not a big deal with our CNC mill. I would mill
Slots and fill with epoxy, I think it would be the easiest. Or larger windows and aluminum or carbon fiber like @SOS Ridgerider
The carbon is so easy to work with David, and adds a touch of rigidity and stiffness to the bar. I think we discussed how I did mine, and I know if anyone has the equipment to machine the bar out, it’s you. 9EAE17EF-F006-462F-B401-23E9CCCFBCFC.jpeg
I see you’ve gotten some good advice for your Tsumura bar repair on FB  Lol

It is not the light weight. I'de like to get around 75 out of the bar and shipping to CA runs about $27. If you could talk @SOS Ridgerider into making 2 of them into Oregon "Powermatch Carbon" bars for us for a reasonable price ide eat the shipping to him. LOL

If you can machine them David, I can do the rest. It’s quite easy. I’d like to do a 24” and 28” myself, just to complete the collection, and see what kind of weight reductions we can get. I’d even do another 36” for myself, since the one I did didn’t come out great. I just don’t have access to my buddy with the mill at the moment. Damn guy is so busy. Lol

Just keep in mind that I’m a complete hack, and it’s not gonna look factory perfect. Lol

I hear you on the CF

my brother used to work at Fiber Forge

I’ll give it a whirl
Now wait a minute. You never mention you can get carbon fiber scraps. They can be ground and reused or reused as drop in bits then fill around them. Looks would be secondary on my bar. It is a tool for work nothing more. Have a bead blast cabinet for prep and the stuff sitting here for a kiln to fire one if needed. I build kilns or used to.

I can have a bar cut here now. The machine shop is near done near me. W a iting on parts as we speak. Everyone is busy busy. Still think aluminum inserts brazed in will be the most rigid but carbon fiber scrap could change that.

The 41ES WN is still hanging there new. Been milling with the sister one.

Now remember we can all buy 42 lw sugi in S2 now pretty reasonable. My mount is a tall S1
14 vs 12 and all that goes with it.

Maybe they can be machined here and head up to CT for some more love. Can check on that but it does cost a bit for me to send stuff over. Not a production shop. He has that at work.

kids...
Always shooting there wad at anything  lol

I got a 36" LW bar with my 3120 from @Armbru84, so not much use for these 30" and 32" bars now. I do have 4 loops of chain for the 30" but none for the 32".

The 42" carbon fiber is still interesting. All I need is more time...

What do you guys think the market value might be for a 42" LW? @HYPERSAWS @CLEARCUT
