I used to think hd-2 s were great, not anymore.

Oiled foam is the best and cheapest IMHO, k&n work fine , but are more expensive and take more time to dry after cleaning.

Still not sure if the outer-wears help much, on the hd-2, they seemed to trap fines inside the pre filter on that shape of a filter.

I think outerwears suck for the most part on the awesome HD2 , but i put it on for the hell of it when i run no cover on my 461.

I like the max flow covers. Makes the bubble tops not looks as funny. Not that I really care what they look like if they run.

True... will probably buy the whole kit for the 064 or maybe suffice with the original filter and grease or out the base.

Sent from my non internal combustion device.

I'm liking the aftermarket filters I've seen. I'm not putting a lot of hours on a saw though. Has anyone got any serious time on one?

Logging outfit I build saws for is running the hd2 knock off from dd and like them
I like them much more than the stihl ones.
Only problem is the back of the filter comes off after a while but it still works fine.

I guarantee you it's completely stopped up and don't look it,I said it many times that they are a bad idea.
The wj69 on it will run with a clogged filter and that's a problem because nobody buys new filters or cleans them like they should.
The old HD filters won't do that
So you prefer the old ones right?

Ever try Lestoil to remove the petrol?
It does an unmatchable job removing diesel fuel...

Thoughts?

I should be able to give it a try end of week. That particular HD was stopped up badly.

Wonder if it will fit under a 064 cover that way?

Sent from my non internal combustion device.
Maybe. I'd just use the cover if you need to cover the filter for rain.

So true about hd-2 filters looking clean, but being clogged!!!

Try to blow or suck thru a well used one compared to a new one, huge difference!!!

Found that out milling with an 088, barely scored the cylinder.

Went to a stack so I could use k&n or unifilter

Brian, K&N make filters, they run well at first but get dirty fast and are hard to clean, IMO the HD-2 is a much better choice.

If you get one year of milling out of a filter, i would not complain. That fine dust that results from milling is ten times worse than wood chips. That said, if the AM knock offs seem to be working better, I will have to give them a try.

I've been running my 046 & 460s w/o the spitback covers w/o any problems, but I'm going to start re installing them and see what happens. Always thought they would restrict air flow somewhat.

Maybe is right. It's a very tight fit under the 660 cover, to the point it basically defeats the purpose by limiting surface area.
