Can anyone identify this tree from a piece of the trunk?

Someone dropped off a huge amount of these trees trunks and I would be interested in knowing what it is. They are not dry and when you split it it very stringy and unbelievably wet inside. thanks

Looks like pine to me. In Germany we have these trees in the forest called Kiefer.

Thanks, shows how little I know, but installed a fireplace insert and heated house with firewood this year and the warmest we have kept the home. The best wood are not available in Southern California.
