It will run fantastic. That's how the best running 046s made came from the factory. The first year 046s only had 15°-16° blowdown.

During the 046/460 several years ago, I personally found that my saw never woke up until getting the transfers up. Others found the same thing to be true.

Flat or angled, or less angled?

There’s no set of numbers that’s gunna work for everyone. Each jug is different and everyone grinds different. That’s why Brad can run 15 degrees of blowdown, it’s what works for him.

Open your ports a tad and shape them well, that is the main thing.

Exactly. Performance comes in all different forms. Every change to the cylinder has benefits and trade offs. Don’t be afraid to try something new......in small doses and see how it works for you

The wacky numbers make more sense now.

I personally find that the amount of work needed to make them run anything like a good ported OEM jug just makes no sense to me. Then comes the bore roundness, plating, etc issues.

If your intake is at 82, try to keep at least 40* of primary compression. So I’d set the transfers at 122 for now. If it will be a long bar saw and you didn’t pull a ton out of the band, leave the exhaust roof at 102-103.

You can JB up the intake floor and go 101/118/78 as well.

Just my opinion, everyone’s will be different.

I ported a Meteor identical to how I port an OEM and it didn't run near as well. I ditched it and never looked back.

I'm going to be porting the cylinder today but have to babysit the mother inlaw off and on at the same time so it might take me a bit longer to get it done.

I would go low 100s with the Ex, low 120s w/Tr, and leave the In for now. If it sucks fuel, go back in and epoxy it. Also, you can always remove more from the Ex and Tr, but you can never put it back!

I would take .020 - .030 off the key, no more than that! The key is generally .078 (sometimes .080).

I like the top of the Ex and bottom of the In to be as wide and flat as possible (a little arch), and bevel, to prevent ring hang. Also, on an AM jug, be sure to carefully check the bottom of the Ex port. They often neglect to properly bevel that surface.

In an AM jug, I would get a Meteor piston, and it comes with Cabers!

Good luck with the build.

Checking back on my notes, I put together a hemi head 460 with the following #s (no base gasket): Sq .018, Ex 105, Tr 127, In 75. I had planned to port this jug, but it ran so darn well w/o any porting I left it the way it was and the Tree Guy that has it loves it.

I also had one with an HL Supply Jug (the on sale for $20 ones) that ran almost as well (with a used OEM piston and bridge ports, and a little port work).
Sq: .0225, Ex 103.5, Tr 124, In 80 (was originally 72). This saw went to a homeowner who has several acres of woods, and I periodically get reports that he loves it. (He is a friend of a friend).

Just thought I would share, for whatever it may be worth!

Ok here's some pictures for you guys haven't got finell numbers yet but didn't do much so I don't think they'll charge to much. Now although on most lower transfer's have a little shelf on the bottom of them but this cylinder did not but I still opened them up a bit more or less just made them deeper added brig ports cleaned up the intake did not lower the bottom of the intake at all left it alone the exhaust open it up a little not much like would normally would have done still need to do some more polishing to do on that port but have to make lunch for the mother inlaw. I'll post up the pictures in a few.
