I purchased a Husqvarna 357xp from the internet. After I finally received it, I started checking it out to see what I bought. On the second pull of the trigger.......I got the bang! I sealed the exhaust port and the intake. Put pressure to the crankcase and it wouldn't hold even a pound. Put soap water on the crankshaft bearings and bubbles!

The guy I bought it from says it had new bearings. My question, is there an easy fix without splitting the case and putting new bearings in it? What are my options?

Thanks!

Check the IPL and be sure its bearings you need. I can’t remember if those bearings are sealed or not . If they are not then just replace the seals. Check real close for a worn bearing pocket. You check for fore and aft play at the pto side. Should have none.

Needs crank seals, if the seals are a part of the bearings then you gotta replace them all as a unit

So the seller said the bearings are new but the seals aren't? Or they are and the new seals leak? Do you know if he used OEM bearings, or name brand? How about the seals? Lots of red flags for me. If I didn't get good answers I'd be splitting the case and replacing all of it.

take the cylinder off and spin it by hand and see how it feels and do the bearing inspection like someone else said

Good point........I worry about leaking seals and and oblong holes in the case. I am going through the whole lower tomorrow. Not happy with the seller at all.
I would be all over hitting the reset on this deal. Like shoving it where the sun don't shine...

Which part of the internet did it come from?
eBay, fb, a forum? Depending on how you paid, if it was advertised as rebuilt and it’s not, maybe you could at least get some of your $ back

I suppose if you wanted to do a total rebuild, you could have picked something off a junk pile? Seriously, I would be getting a refund.
I agree totally that was sold as a running saw and it needs seals it is not a running saw. i would be asking for a refund as well and if they are not willing to refund your money woukd be turing them in to ebay and starting the process of forcing them into a refund

Sounds like guy tried to misrepresent saw. But he only said new bearings, did he state seals, gaskets, lines, etc. Also did not state what saw sold for and did he say it ran and cut well?

It came from eBay...... I talked to the seller and we came to an agreement of a deep discount. So now it looks like I have a project ......... I don't know if it was a wanted project but a project.

I basically got the thing for the price of shipping it to me.

It was listed as "used" with new bearings and seals, but ran great!
