Can’t wait for an update or another post? Nice work. Is the project complete or still in progress?

The project is complete, just posting pics of the rebuild I thought people might find interesting. Just a different way to restore an old saw. I understand that this has been done more than a few times but if there was interest....I would keep posting. Same treatment was given to my early production 070. 2 piece crank and 10mm pin. That was my first big Stihl and now I have basically the beginning and end of that saw line before it ended production in North America (Not including the elusive Contra I always miss)

That ultrasonic sure did a number on the carbon. Let it soak in there for close to 30min. Never had piston ring grooves that clean. speaking of clean....these all went thru the cleaner. Get a load of what it did to the ground strap.

Not a lot of hardware when you think about it, for the sheer size of the saw. I always drop my bearing in a jar of rich mix. Let em' sit in there for a week or too or until they are ready to install. I throw the bearing and races in the freezer overnight. The next day I throw the case half back in the over. 250F is low enough to not change the molecular structure of the powder. The bearing and races just drop into place.

Prepping all the surfaces, getting all the holes cleaned and a tap ran thru. I lot of corners on the back side of the bar studs. That makes for some tricky and time consuming paint removal. Plus a lot of attention on the application of the powder. Make sure no spots were missed of shot too light.

I really like the copper oil line. I just think it is soo cool on these old saws, just adding in all the easy access bits before we get to the cylinder. Seals are in and it spins over smooooth.
