390xp with a 20 and ms440 with a 20 are the logging setup around here cutting mostly 16-24” hard maple for veneer and saw logs. Ash and bigger beech get culled for firewood logs. Bigger saws with shorter bars last longer, easier to power through a cut with a duller chain, easier to sharpen the chain and the bar isn’t dragging in the snow in winter

All the veneer guys I know run 20” bars too.
Some are 460’s couple 395’s.
395 with a 20” just looks weird

You’re one of those “little saw, great big bar” types.
Always compensating for something

Probly cut 50 walnuts last few days that the bank was a couple foot higher on the hi side. Had to bore down to the cut. I need to get you more pics.

Longer the bar means the smarter the operator. Lol

My setup:

TM 066 - 24" 90% / 32" or 36" as needed
Ms461 - 20" 90% / 24" or 28" as needed
Ms460 - 20" 90% / 24" or 28" as needed
Ms360s - 18"
Dolmar 6100 - 20"
Ms261 - 18" .325
026s - 16" .325

I like a big powerhead and a shorter bar but I only cut firewood and some tree jobs - a mix of Cannons, Tsumuras, and Sugiharas. Have a few ES bars for backup.
