This is how they were manufactured.

They were also sold as Dolmar/Makita. (PS 311/EA 3100).
That is a remarkable video. It looks so professional--almost like those workers care about the product they are making. That's what is so sadly lacking in many American workers today. The Japanese really have a remarkable culture, built on respect for authority and family. It never ceases to amaze me how fast they recovered from WWII.
Oh, and I've never seen anyone put in wrist pin clips so fast. I wonder how many go flying across the factory.

My best friend has been at the plant in Georgetown since 2001. The pay and benefits are incredible, and so is the work and expectations. Very few people are able to retire from the place, maybe 1 in 300. He was able to get off the line and into a maintenance job, otherwise he wouldn't still be there. Had shoulder and wrist surgeries and carpal tunnel by the time he hit the ten year mark.

Ask him if he puts in his required monthly Kaizen to create a Kanban that eliminates Muda. :D

The little 2050 above it is a really good cheap saw. Tune it right and get rid of the butter knife factory chain and it will surprise you. I have put many many hours on the 2050 and 2150 and they don't give up much to my Echo CS-400's.
