That 034 super would easily keep up if not beat my 10mm 044 with both saws wearing 20" bars.
We can find out for sure when you come over on the 29th.....

I'll have the 20" B/C on the 034S, cleaned, and sharpened. :D

We can also run it against the JonnyRed 2051....

Wish I'd have known earlier. I burned 2 tanks through it on the woodpile last week. That saw is a gem. Matter of fact, we let a friend and his wife borrow my 044 and Mrs. Heffalump's 034S two weeks ago. Gave them the saws, gallon of my fuel mix, 1/2 gallon of my oil, my field bag, and about a 45 minute lesson on how not to f--k up our chainsaws. They ran hard all afternoon and reported back that they thought the 034S was much easier to handle and had plenty of power, but felt the 044 was easier to start.....the 034S was so hard to pull over...... ;)

@Chainsaw Jim , two questions:
  1. Are you taking any port work? I have an 044 and maybe a Jreds 80/90 that could use a little more oomph.
  2. What would it cost to commission one of those Husqy 357 Chainasaurus' you brought to the GTG in June?

It's a fun hobby for me. I go to my dads and use his stock saws and I'm fine. But I've always hopped up everything I could no matter how good it already was. Don't need it but it's fun. And I've met a bunch of great guys to boot!

Then it's a race! I'm sorry but I think the 2051 is going to be hurt'n bad if up against those two as my 10mm 044 beat my MMWS 346 bad and that 2051 would have its hand full against that 346. I do believe that that 2051 would spank a stock 346 though.

stock 044 and NE 50cc 346 ? :cunaooooo:

I know my Dan Henry 46cc OE 346 ran right with a 365 special I built stock with same 3/8 work chain. The Dan Henry 50cc would beat my 46cc in the cants and torque.
The 50cc of DH work was like a mini 372 IMO.
My OE beat most of the other ported 50cc 346's at the gtg's but 1 or 2. None of those porters here.

Dan has said pretty much exactly what I was going to say -- it's just fun!
Running saws just doesn't get old for me -- stock or ported.
My 372 is bone stock and it never gets old cutting up big wood with it that you can bury the bar in like 40"+ diameter stuff.

I think I agree also with one post mentioning sharp chain is important. Let the big chips fly!

I don't own any saws that have had a full blown port job. I have some that have a little grinding on here and there, some have muffler mods or dual port covers installed, however the majority of the saws that come in or out of my shop are stock. I don't race saws, I don't collect saws, I just like fixing them up and of course I use them to cut wood.
Right now I'm not in the chain saw playing mode but am in the "find a job" mode. Might have something lined up next week as I have an interview scheduled.

Well I'll fess right up, having to cut up a bunch of wood that came in that's from 20" to 36"+ I reached for the fastest saw I had (272xp) that is slightly modified by this forums standards. Sometimes you just have to Git-R-Dunn.

Rounds on the left are what I was cutting today.

Confession #2, was finishing up cutting the rest of the wood today and my beloved 272 chook-a-chit. So I had to do three more logs with my 460 Rancher. Got the job done but was not as easy as the other saw. So I guess the dependable stock saw won this round. The debate continues...
