Spoke with the main US distributor of Archer chain today. He assured me that the chain is made in their own plant in China, which gives them much more control than if contracted to another manufacturer.

@paragonbuilder has a few loops of the 63PS copycat i sent him to try out and I've given out a 25' roll of the semi chisel 3/8lp chain to local tree services. gave out a few loops of 404 to a local logger as well. havent gotten many reports back on any of it yet which in the case of the 404 means it wasnt total junk. still not sure if I am going to start carrying it yet though

Sorry Nate, things have been crazy and I haven't tried it yet. I'm hoping to this weekend and also to mess with the Makita some more.

all good. As usual with doctors they couldnt find anything wrong and decided to just send me home with instructions to come back if if symptoms return. My pride is the biggest drag on it.....no insurance and i refused their government crap so i just get a reduced rate and get to make payments. supposed to get around 80% off the bill for being a cash customer but thats still gonna be ridiculous....stress test, cat scan, head ct yada yada yada.

Ever have one of those years where you cant wait for it to be over.....that would be this year for me because if it can go wrong, it has.

I picked up a bar/chain combo for my 346. .325, full chisel, 18" husky small mount. It has quite long cutters. Slower than a dog out of the box. Square filed it and filed the rakers down to .025" and it cuts as well as any chain. Seems to hold an edge well, too. If I stay out of the dirt, it'll last between 3 and 5 tanks with whatever filing angles I'm currently using. The chain is now at about 30% life left, and the bar looks like new with no missing paint. I'd definitely use it again.

Sorry to hear this stuff Nate. On the other hand, that 6100 you sent me runs flawlessly so far. Ive run 3 tanks through it and it never skips a beat. Thank you

Call me a risk taker! I bought a roll of 3/8, .063, full chisel full skip. First chain is a 135DL for my 42" bar on my 066. Have not cut with it yet, so I will report back once I see what kind of stretch I encounter. Based on what I see and what I have read here, I don't expect any problems! Pretty sure I will start selling this brand chain across the board if it performs well for me during firewood season....which starts in about a week or so here. Unbeatable value when comparing quality vs price.

Am I the 3rd person to take this offer ?
If so I'd love to try it

Currently the first actually, we never did get round to sorting postage out for the other gents! Send me an address and I'll break some off and send you enough to make a couple of chains up if you have the tools?
