I don't know. It's 1 and 1/2 hours from me. I guess you can Google the route to see if roads are closed. It's bad here and worse on into the mountains.

Thanks. I am the same distance. My phone alerted Saturday saying I-40 closed from I-77. My friend works for the city of Hickory and she said there was normal traffic heading west. The must start enforcing further west. I called evey business in Newland except the Fire dept. and the Police. None conected except the county Govt. saying they were closed.

Friend of mine is a broker for a trucking company here in East tennessee.he said NC dot sent him an email saying 40 west bound was open thru the gorge but east bound was closed.but I've heard so much b.s. in the last 3 days I'm not believing anything till I see it.

My buddy made it back to his house. He is in Blowing Rock safe and close to his home. Hard to get to his house in Dodge Ram 4x4 but he did and except for no power no phone he and his home, family and animals GTG. He is lucky and is thankful! I do not think they need me getting my bar pinched all the time cutting downed trees or I would take my old sorry ass to help western N.C.~~ Getting text from him is still problematic and slow. Lot's of people killed and lost everything. Going to be a long difficult clean-up.
