Must be 281 time...picked up this one today! Now I have to start at the beginning and read this whole thread!

When I got this saw one of the first things I noticed was it was missing the 2 front rubber av mounts, I'd just assumed the previous owner had used them to keep his other 281 going.
The day I ordered new ones I read that not all 281 had them when they had the front spring mount.
Live and learn, still learning a lot.

Won't hurt to put them in, for that matter it will help to stiffen the saw up a little.

The 288 now has a full tank through it and seems to be getting stronger and stronger. I’m impressed thus far even though its only running a 20” bar and some old beat up chain.

Damn is this thing a BEAST!

I got a blue top air filter adapter from a fellow member. I was so excited I found one that I forgot to ask if he had the air filter to fit. It turns out he does and will be in the mail soon.

Man I'm feeling the itch that can only be scratched by the trigger on my 288.... But I have some work to do. Have an Echo top handle to put crank seals and fuel delivery parts in and a 394 to check out for a supposed crank bearing failure for a friend, and a leaf blower to tune up for a family member.
