For your viewing pleasure. This is the 288 I bought off Rattler. 28" techlite and hand sharpened round chain. I need to put a 8 pin on it but it's damn strong. The wood is seasoned oak with some knots.

Boy she does! It shocked me. Oak was really hard. Was a bit small for a 28" but it's what I had

Can't wait to see/hear the one he's currently building. I'm working on my truck today, ball joints, tie rods etc. I'll probably port mine after my upcoming vacation. I have no expectations of getting mine to the level of a rattler build, but it's fun to try

Question for you more experienced 288 guys: how do you know if you have a governed carb on a 288? I've heard mention of it but never really researched it for my own knowledge.

Side note: think I'll change the title of this thread to "288". Seems to keep on rolling and I personally love talking 288. We need a dedicated thread

On the choke linkage side of the carb there will be a large brass flat head screw if it has a governer.

Fingers are an aspect of porting I am just beginning to understand. Not ready to grind them yet

I found it easier to pull the choke butterfly and shaft out. Makes getting the screw out and back in much easier.

All you need to get is a milk crate and you'll be just as good as @rattler
