I have done this also on roads out in the rural country that have no other tree growth at all, except for the tree that dropped over from the wind.. The latest was a standing dead elm tree that produced instant firewood after I split the rounds. The farmer who owned the land thanked me for doing it. We shook hands and have been friends ever since.

Got to love the wind doing the dropping. Just found these on some private property I have access to. This oak is probably 24" where I'll cut it at the base. Still solid too. Brought down a small oak and cherry. Had to cut a couple more up to get to it. The best part, fell on an an old logging road, no winching necessary.
