I don't own one, but I work on them. It's pronounced still when you need to buy parts. Then it's pronounced steal when you have to buy parts.

Old German guy up the road used to say, "still pullin the hunkajunka".
Some time after he passed, his son asked if I'd try and get the old still started.
The guy must of thought way more oil was way more better. After cleaning and degreasing it fired right up.

No wonder old German guy hated them all.
The son said later it was running great. I told him, it had been well oiled, with steal sin-pathetic.

Shteel. Germans add an h to the pronunciation, especially when an s is followed by a consonant such as a t. I like WonkeyDonkey's example: Sean, which is a classic Welsh name. There the h shows up when followed by a vowel, which is not typical.
