It's alive.

It took a bit to find its "tune" after I reset the M-tronic.
2 tanks through it today.
Now that it's running I will be ordering new crank seals, lines and fuel filter on Monday.
Once I get that stuff I will tear it down (not splitting case) and post some pics of that process along with a few oddities and quirks of this model I found while messing with it.

Yeah thats really the way to do it, tear it down to the case.
Its more difficult to try and sneak something in without disassembly.

Cool, did you get that 362 coil to work?

I'm going to continue this thread with a full tear down.
This saw has an aftermarket cylinder on it. A used OEM cylinder was located, obtained and cleaned up with the help of some friends.
I know the interwebz doesn't show much love for this model due to a complex nature and being underpowered, but I like it, maybe due to a complex nature and being underpowered...

This will be a post as I go thing, so it will take a whole.

Bumper strips missing from clutch cover, which also has a chunk out of the back and appears to be missing the chip deflector.
It clears noodles well however..

Clutch drum and sprocket don't appear to Happy.
20220319_084226.jpg

And the clutch looks like it went a few rounds with Mike Tyson prior to his conversion to cannibalism.

Air filter cover has 2 simple clasps that pop off, and there's the filter for you guys into that thing.

4 screws and starter is off. Long screw goes through brake handle.20220319_084811.jpg
20220319_084731.jpg

Now, here's something of note.
The 441 has a tab that sticks out that's not on the 441c...
If the 441 starter is bolted up on a 441c, it will pinch the wiring...

Glad your bringing it back to life, I doubt that you'll find it under powered if done correctly. I know mine will make handy work of most of the 70cc saws in my collection.

If it is truly an m-tronic and requires a top-end rebuild, be prepared for a major effort. Your saw looks to be heavily used compared to the one I rebuilt, which was a straight-gassed m-tronic. I figure 15 hours of work will be required and I wish you luck. Mine is a great saw but it was not easy to bring it back to life. The service manual is a small nightmare to follow. Regardless, I like using it and I am glad I made the effort.

I believe that I put an 044/ms440 clutch and drum on mine.

Here's the air duct, 2 screws and it pulls out.
20220319_084850.jpg
Can also see the coil and wire routing.
Note, that's not factory wiring, I had to make my own as the original had been cut up.
20220319_084917.jpg
Another pic, and here with the duct removed, can see the throttle cable.

Front handle screws that fasten to the tank are all the same, and 1 screw that bolts the AV spring to the cylinder.
20220319_085043.jpg

This stuff is pretty run of the mill Stihl here, 2 screws and the brake spring and linkage is exposed.
20220319_085301.jpg

That's all I got to today, should get some more tomorrow.
