Pretty sure my 461 falls in the affected category. Guess I'll have to stop cussing the flipping caps for a bit for the leaked fuel all over the back of my pickup. No mention of this from my dealer either as of this afternoon when I was in there getting robbed on a new hd2 filter.

I took mine in on Saturday because it fell inside the SN. span. So here's the deal, evidently there was an assembly issue on some of the affected saws where the line was routed incorrectly and could be possibly kinked and cause the line to chafe and leak. So this recall is basically an "inspect and repair as necessary". My dealer checked mine out while I waited (about 5 minutes) and mine was good to go.

Hey thanks man I figured that was the case...more of a preemptive strike.....I don't "log" with mine sonit probably only has 5-10 hours on it....I would have know if she had an issue by know!!!

It's a little ridiculous that Stihl dealers don't call the affected customers...lets be honest 100,000 customers can be emailed in seconds, letting them know about the recall!!!!

I would bet $1000 my dealer would say "we haven't heard of any recall"!!!!

Nah, I gave them a call and inquired about the recall and they said to just swing by and they'd check it out. Not sure what their protocol is with this stuff but you'd think they would reach out to the registered owners. In their defense I am not the original owner, although my 461 had never been in wood when I purchased it.

The best part about it was my parts guy knew more about the recall than the service manager. The parts guy pulled up the recall letter on his computer and let me look through it. I should've asked him to print it out for me.

Yes it's a little pitiful, you buy a $1000 saw and they can give customers respect enough
To just replace a $5 part.....

Yes, it was noticeable. But it was brand new and still clean. If the leak wouldn't have showed so soon I wouldn't have thought about it. But I was careful not to spill gas on the 1st tank. And it showed.

Look at throttle rod, there is a drop ready to fall. Also the saw dust stuck to the right upper portion of tank due to gas leakage. Like 15 minutes of run time

Hey man thanks for posting the pic.....now I haven't been in my 461, other them trimming the limiter caps, and just checking things out in general......

With that said, was yours only leaking from the fuel line.....I see the drop, but the fuel line is in the other side.....maybe your line had a pretty good sized hole in it....

After having the line replaced I installed a dual port muffler. And always make sure to spill some fuel on it.

For peace of mind
Hey I know you said you haven't run the saw much, but could you "feel" a difference when you put the dual port muffler on.....I have read a lot about dual ports on the 461.....it's kind of strange, but some people said there was a little difference in performance, and some people said it doesn't help at all.....I do know that it has to help some by getting heat out better.....

What do you think of the 461......I know I like mine a lot, I don't use it that much, it is my big saw for huge pieces......mine wears the 25" bar, and it has been doing great....I only cut hardwoods and it seems to have good power and torque with the 25" bar buried....

I believe he's running a raisman aftermarket muffler and cover. It has no baffling or screens whatsoever.
