apparently the depth of the am clutch drum is ever so slightly deeper than oem so it rubs on some saws
Yes
And it's not the first time I've heard this.

I've built plenty of 044's so I'm confident the oil line is set.

Could ya do the sandpaper and flat plate trick. Then use a file to notch the oiler catch.

Why not just spend the extra $10 and buy OEM?
You'll have $60 in labor trying to make a $5 part fit when you could buy OEM for half of that. Or even Oregon. Never had had an issue with an Oregon rim.......yet

I'm just saying if you have the part why not make it work. I'm sure if someone knows ahead of time they would just get the oem or Oregon. But if it were me and I had bought it not knowing. I would probably figure out how to make it work rather than have to pay return shipping.

Sometimes it's just easier to "fix" the new part to make it work. If the fix is easy and you don't mind taking the time to tinker with it I say why not. Sometimes the return shipping or the hassle of getting a refund isn't worth the inconvenience and usually takes longer the just "fixing" the part.

I'm not sure what is meant by oiler "catch"?

The aluminum tube from the pump to the port is very thin walled. I wouldn't recommend putting a file to it as that's not really where the issue lies.

I would find a way to evenly remove material from the rim of the drum.
I have access to a machine shop so chucking it in a lathe would be my 1st choice.
But there is more than one way to skin a cat

I meant the catch for the oiler worm gear arm. My brain farts sometimes. Some are more silent than others. Lol

I wasn't suggesting modding anything other than the drum.
