A video is better then a photo. Lol :D:D:D:)
The PS-421 seems much healthier with the CAT gone.

Considering my current preferences I'd still pick up the PS-6100 over the PS-421 - if I would own those two. ;)

I am getting a buzz from using my PS-6400 & PS-7900 for all kind of cutting, my 40cc's are just sitting on the shelf most the time.

Nice video, great saws! :applaudit:

So @CoeryB, now that you have mm'd it and run it some, are you happy, sad, or too early to tell about your purchase?

Any pics of the cat removal or a link to some? Definitely wanting to do it to mine as well.
Do you notice that the clutch disengages at a little higher rpm than some saws?

I agree the 6100 is not going anywhere anytime soon. I would love to try a 6400 and 7900. Actually no.... no I wouldn't!
Then I would probably want them as well.

I have not noticed the clutch disengaging, but I will watch for it.
I have a bit of a video of mm. Kind of and had plans to do a full details mm video but i didn't get any good video. (Need a teipod)
It is still a bit early but I did run 2 tanks through it yesterday and I am definitely not sad. So far I feel it is going to fit the need very well. But I am still sad I had to let the 192 go. Just for how light and nimble it is on the small thick crap. However I have not got the 421 in any of that yet so if it performs well with no excess fatigue, I doubt I will miss the 192 again.

The muffler mod is fairly easy I ended up using a drill bit on the 2 spot welds over the dremel. But used the dremel cut off wheel and grinding stones on the fins. Cleaned it up with the dremel wire brush.

Here are two pieces of the video that aren't terrible and I hope helps.

Again not the best at all but I do hope it helps. Removing the cat is a very noticeable improvement unless you like quiter and hot.

Just a add onto the 2 vids....I didnt remove the louvers on my saw as in the vid but moved them to a different angle so they took up less space in the hole. I was not putting the spark screen back and it helps to keep crap out out the muffler.

So Corey, did you put the spark screen back in? Do some just remove the cat and leave the fins alone?

I removed the cat and left the screen and gills alone when I modified mine. However when @Red97 ported mine he cut the gills out. I will eventually put a larger "hole" screen in. I don't have a stock, untouched saw to compare it to but it's not that loud even now.

No one that runs it seems to be off put by the sound. They are just impressed with how it runs. Lots of useable torque. Much improved power band.

I think I have the larger stainless screen in mine. I know I put it in something. I'll have to check.

Not yet but will because we have mud daubers and they love to pack every hole they find..
I did remove the fins all the way just cutting out the inside of the embossed area with a dremel cut off wheel
I am still debating on leaving the outside plate off all together

It looks like the outside plate helps to keep the screen in. It's not screwed on like the 5100. On the 1/8" stainless mesh it kind of sandwiches it on if that makes sense. It can't weigh much either and adds another level of protection if you are abusive.

On the 420 if the weather is hot and your working the saw hard I leave the top cover off let it run cooler
In winter I put it back on too keep the tempature up
