Loving the discussion here guys!

Sorry I've been absent all day, helped XP_Slinger put a new radiator in his diesel Dodge this morning, then we went and ran the piss out of his 372 and my 394 in some good sized hard maple.. Was a good day! :)

I cut with a lot with a friend that has a 461. Any time I set my 7900 down to use one of my smaller saws, he always asks to run it. The 7900 seems to hold RPM better in the cut but that may be due to my friends inability to sharpen a chain

Ran a stock 461 a couple weeks ago, didn't care for it. I've heard so many people talk them up it was almost disappointing, maybe porting wakes them up. Then again I've heard a lot of people don't like the MS441 and I absolutely love the way mine cuts.

Enjoyed the 372 XPW I ran, little heavy to throw around all day, but it was a screamer. Never run a 7900, had good luck with a couple smaller Dolmar saws though

If it has a dull chain it likely also has a dirty air filter. Do a muff mod and pull the carb limiters on a 461 and it will generally make a respectable work saw.

Porting wakes every chainsaw up.

A 461 isnt much different.

Muffler mod made almost no difference on the stock one ive ran.

I did 4 of em for one Co and another for another pro and all the feedback I got from them was very positive.

I think Jeremy also said he woke up his by doing that.

Porting wakes every chainsaw up.

Some more noticeably than others. You can take two saws of the same model, and one will just have better timing than the other, and the other will usually benefit more from porting.

I don't do anything special to a saw. I'm booked up till Sept on scheduled work.

Lots of guys here do good work.

I've been recommending Carl Miller to a lot of folks lately. I know @Miller Mod Saws does quality work and has a stellar reputation.
Thank you.

I see Carl has been sending you his special kool aid too.

My solo hybrid was done by Carl Miller and my other solo is going to him as well. I have heard from more than 1 person Carl does amazing work with the dolmar and solo saws.

Carl and I swap notes a lot. I've learned a bunch in the brainstorming sessions we've had.

Sound is a funny thing.

Thanks mike.

Finally joining in. So I'll throw my 2 cents around but it's maybe only worth 1/3 of a cent. :)
I love the old school 372xp, the XPW well I need some more play time with that saw as IMO I've never got one to have any wow factor. Run good yes but my pic not at all. Maybe that will change when I get a few more under the belt. But my pic is a combo of what ya have listed. If you want a new saw from me. My pic is the 6421/7910. Here's why. I really like the 7910 cylinder. But I don't like the 7910 low rev limiter coil. Although it's more works I like the outcome of the stainless muffler modded on the 6421 vs the galvanized 7910 muffler. So if ya get a 6421/7910 you get the 13500 coil and a stainless muffler and it used to be bigger dawgs But that changed this year. Now all new ones have big dawgs.
