So back in 2013 I built my first 372. Immediately my dad wanted one too (all he had ever had was a 750EVL) and I won a Big Bore top emd at the Central VA GTG. Moobs standing there said "those make good runners" [cannot remember white or brown box]. He took it with him and a few weeks later I got a ported top end back in the mail.

Built a 372 out of parts I had found and gave it to my dad along with a 350. I knew he would have issues running the 372 and to this day he loves his 350.

Ok...So last fall (2018) he hands me the saw back and says "I won't run this...take it with you." OK...I bring it to my pile. Few months go by and a friend calls one Saturday looking for a new big saw. I tell him to come run some and figure out what he wants to buy new; 395, 372, 660, etc.

He fell in love with the 372 big bore and I sold it with strict orders of 40:1, synthetic, etc. Well long story short its back here now with a locked crank. The jug is OK but the piston needs replacing. It could be run but it has lots of scuffing on the skirts. At this point the saw is not economically feasible for me to repair for a commercial customer. I also would not send this top end back out in a commercial setting....it will not last. For a toy though?!

So HL has a 372 52mm pop up. I wonder how that will work with Moobs port timing. I also see 1 ring and 2 ring models on FleaBay. It was a 2 ring. Thoughts? Ideas?

Notice the machine marks are all gone on the skirts...it was a rocking in there!

Video of the bottom end...

ive heard of people using 372bb pistons in 7900s with a little work, not sure dimensionally how a 272 or 046 piston would work, but i dunno well a windowed piston would behave in a bottom fed cylinder. is there a meteor piston out there for an old poulan pro of that bore i wonder?

I talked with the peg leg banana stuffer today (aka Moobs) and he expressed how impressed he was with the HyWay pop up he just got for Bubba's 55. He felt that would be a good direction to go and looking at the crap shoot available from the normal Asian outlets and eBay... at least Bruce and crew have a building and a phone number!

I am fairly certain I can get Mr. Terrmitebuffet / Zoo City Saws to help if I need the base or band cleaned up any to accommodate different piston dimensions. [Zoo City Saws is rather local to me]
