Had a friend contact me who has a fairly low use 372 and it keeps throwing the chain after not a lot of use. It's oiling and I'm having him send me some pics of the sprocket. He can tension the chain and just a few minutes of cutting it comes loose. Any suggestions for him?

Ask him if he's pulling the bar up when he's adjusting it, if not and the bar nuts aren't real tight it could cause the chain to loosen up. It could also be cheap chain stretching out.

He purchased a new chain and it's the wrong pitch? Or purchased a new bar with wrong tip pitch?

Low use means he probably is on the original bar and chain. Either he has buildup under the bar and it is not tightening properly, or something has worn out or defective. Has he removed the bar and chain and inspected?

having the rail packed full of debris will do it too. if he doesnt clean out the groove it can get a build up of crud and sometimes the can be a high spot that is just enough to send the chain a flingin.
